Kolkata Sanved believes that all individuals, from marginalized and mainstream populations, can live with dignity and self-respect. This basic sense of empowerment and integrity can be achieved through dance movement therapy.

My Work
Hi
everyone
We are the Video Team. We have made a film that we finished in two days, and our work experience is growing. Some visitors came to Kolkata Sanved and we showed the film to them, and they liked it. We have gotten two more job proposals from certain organizations that we have already made documentaries for. We will be working more now, and that will make us better filmmakers.

Ananya's Thoughts
Hi,
My name is Ananya and I have been working as a volunteer at Kolkata Sanved for the past ten days. When I heard about the organization, I was immediately drawn to it, because I love to dance and the idea of therapy through dance seemed really cool. However, I didn't really know what to expect in terms of work. When I got here, Sohini mashi and everyone on the staff made me feel very welcome. The first few days, I worked with the TOT (Training of Trainers) girls, learning dance and teaching English. After that, I assisted the Senior DMT (Dance Movement Therapy) trainers with their workshops in different places around Kolkata.
I can't believe how much I've managed to learn in just ten days. I had never thought of dance as a therapy before, and it was very interesting to see how that is put into practice by all of the trainers here.
I really hope that when I get back to Spain, where I live, I can spread Kolkata Sanved's message and increase awareness for all that they are fighting for.

My Work
Hi, I am Bithika. I am part of the video team. This June, we have worked on two digital story-tellings. One film is about an NGO called Kolkata Sanved and the other is about one of Kolkata Sanved's Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) workshops in Bali, Indonesia. We showed these two films to the organization we work for, Kolkata Sanved, and then we were given their comments and feedback. Due to the feedback we were given, we understood the problems with our current films and we will work on them.
